During 2026 Penkova initiates the preparation for a future creation “Callandia,” a sci-fi documentary dance performance situated in 3017. A group of dance-artists, transported a thousand years ahead, find themselves in a society without art. Welcomed by an AI messenger, they learn the only way home is to leave behind enough knowledge of their art-field and its history within a walking loop of 18 steps, the only choreography allowed in Callandia.

During the residency at Vitlycke CPA the focus is on in depth movement research based on each dancers own archive, writing movement material and brainstorming around altered time-space parameters. To what extent is dance and dancing a sci-fi practice?

Liza Penkova is a Swedish dancer/choreographer/ eduactor based in Gothenburg. After many years working as a dancer with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker/Rosas, she went on working with other significant artists in Europe including Michèle Noiret, Helena Franzén, Georgia Vardarou, Veli Lehtovaara, Meri Pajunpää. She has also been one of the initiators of House of Bertha collective and PhD in One Night in Brussels. Since 2020 she has been focusing on making her own work as a choreographer where asking questions about the essence of dance as an art-form lay the ground for her choreographic practice. In 2025 she completed a master degree at M.A.D.E at Stockholm University of the Arts.

Kevin Fay is a French-American dance-artist trained at Northwestern University, Hubbard Street Dance Center, and the Ruth Page Foundation School of Dance. He has performed with Dayton Ballet, Dana Tai Soon Burgess & Company, and as a freelance artist across the US and internationally, including choreographic work for the Metropolitan Opera, Bard SummerScape, and Washington National Opera. Since relocating to Brussels in 2016, Kevin has worked with artists including Veli Lehtovaara, Éric Minh Cuong Castaing, Eleanor Bauer & Chris Peck, Marc Vanrunxt, La Monnaie/De Munt, and Marco Berrettini, among others. He also writes, edits, and teaches, and in 2020 received a year-long Flemish research scholarship on masculinity, feminism, language, and choreography.

Mikael Marlkund is a dancer and maker from Sweden, began with breakdancing and trained at P.A.R.T.S before joining the Rosas dance company. He later explored experimental dance with artist Laurent Chétouane for six transformative years, pushing the boundaries of the art form. Mikael Marklund’s work emphasises communication, individuality, and the fluidity of space and time, seeking to transcend cultural divides and foster universal connection.

Samuel Haglund is a dance artist based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and a graduate of the professional dance program at Balettakademien Gothenburg as well as at Kävesta Folk High School. His artistic practice is rooted in personal reflection and explores the relationship between language and movement. He often begins his creative process with writing, using words to access emotions, thoughts, and observations that later take physical form through choreography, He is interested in how the body can act as an archive for emotional memory, creating movement that invites reflection and connection.
