We are happy to welcome back Tevin Redvall to Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts with THE GARDEN.
Tevin is one of this year’s artists in “Next Move” – the Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival’s initiative focused on street dance – and in 2026, Stora Teatern will co-produce his performance, “The Garden”. The show will premiere at Stora Teatern.
“What does it actually mean to grow? Is it merely a physical evolution or something deeper? Is growth an action or a state of being? Does it exist solely in comparison to what came before? What are the negative aspects of growth, and what happens when we are confronted with our destructive sides? How can the consequences of our growth coexist within us?”
– Tevin Redvall
“The Garden” is a three-part dance performance exploring the human experience and the inner journey of development, breakdown, and integration. The piece is based on the idea that human development is not linear but moves in spirals. We grow just as much when we fall back as when we move forward, eventually learning to integrate it all into a more conscious whole.
About Next Move
“Next Move” is a platform within the Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival designed for hip-hop and street dance practitioners in the Västra Götaland region who wish to step into the world of performing arts. Through production residencies, development support, and workshops, they create opportunities for dancers and choreographers to realize their ideas and reach a wider audience.
“Next Move” was launched in 2021 to provide street dancers in Västra Götaland with a pathway into the performing arts. They identified a need for support, resources, and a context where dancers could develop their skills and create stage productions. Through their production residency, one group each year gets the opportunity to create a full-length performance ready for touring.
In addition, they offer development residencies for those wishing to explore their ideas, as well as an extensive workshop programme designed to empower and inspire street dancers in the region.
Next Move is constantly growing through collaborations with various partners. In 2024, the production Väntrummet toured to six locations in Västra Götaland, and the tour expanded further in 2025 with the production Open Source being presented in seven towns. The goal is to provide street dancers with new opportunities and to create a vibrant scene for street dance as a performing art in the Västra Götaland region.
